Let's get creative with what you have at home! Hand embroidery is the perfect way to personalise your wardrobe and have a joyful creative project in your hands.
For these jeans I wanted to embellish the legs in a cool and modern way. And as I love blue (who doesn't?!) it made me think of a blue ocean... Thus with inspiration from the incredible Hokusai waves, I began to stitch.
The full leg is embroidered by freehand with double sided split, satin and straight stitches combined. When embroidering on clothes I recommend to embroider double sided for more stability (especially in exposed areas such as the end of the leg, where there might be some extra friction when you walk etc.) Furthermore, double sided embroidery also stabilises the work so that you can be calm when you put the garment in the washing machine (just don't tumble dry embroidered clothes!).
If you don't feel steady enough on your hand to freestyle the whole design, you can effectively draw with a friction pen or water soluble pen directly on the clothes.
